knowit: Gardening

Gardening: Know it: Gardening focuses on what you can expect and what you must decide before you take on the project. You must be aware of what you face and decide what type of garden or landscaping you need and want.

Gardening in Oklahoma

Most everyone, at some time or another, gets an urge to try his or her hand at a form of gardening. It may involve flowers. It could be shrubs or trees. Maybe it’s simply a lawn edging. Or, perhaps it’s a vegetable garden for table-variety food. Those who have the time, money and interest may take it farther and make it a major hobby — or even a business.

Gardening in Oklahoma, a state where there is sunshine and even temperatures most of the year, offers opportunities that don’t exist in some areas of the United States. There can be challenges, with dry conditions often continuing for lengthy periods, or soil conditions that require a little assistance. But they can be met and the experience can be a good one.
