Edmond's outdoor watering schedule starts June 1
EDMOND — The city's volunteer outdoor watering schedule will go into effect June 1. The water conservation plan, approved by the city council in 2002, runs until Oct. 1. The purpose of the plan is to manage summer water use. Water use during hottest, driest part of the season can double normal levels, said Kris Neifing, water resources superintendent for Edmond. The city's daily water use is typically 10 million to 11 million gallons per day. That amount can climb to 22 million to 23 million gallons per day during the summer. The outdoor watering schedule is based on the ending number in the home or business address. The schedule provides for one weekday and one weekend day for outdoor lawn watering. In addition to the specific outdoor watering days, residents are asked not to water lawns between 7 p.m. and midnight.
